nutshell, it’s an audio transformer packaged to plug directly into the channel
insert of a mixer. The unit is intended for the project studio environment as an
affordable way to use the distinctive sound of a high quality audio transformer
in a signal chain. The TI-600 is the first commercially available plug-in
transformer designed specifically for direct connection to a channel insert
jack.
The TI-600 features wide bandwidth and impeccable signal-to-noise performance. It also emulates the tonal character of transformer-coupled equipment from a bygone era. The TI-600 provides many of the beneficial effects of outboard processors at a fraction of the cost. With a suggested retail cost of just under $100, it effectively turns your transformerless mixer into one with some serious iron.
It features a Jensen transformer manufactured exclusively for the TI-600 that is directly attached to a three-conductor ¼ inch phone plug. The specifications are state-of-the-art: frequency response is rated at –3dB from .2Hz to 15MHz, distortion at 20Hz is .035% at +4dBm and time domain performance is a scant .3 degrees of deviation from 20Hz to 20KHz.
